I grew up in a small Western Wisconsin town, and had never heard of Chilliwack until my younger brother stumbled into the "Dreams Dreams Dreams" album back in 1977. I was 18 years old at the time, and my brothers and I agreed this was possibly the best album of all time! We shared the album with many friends, dug around to find more Chilliwack LPs, and started a cult Chilliwack following in the tiny town of Durand.
Turn the clock ahead to 2008. I am hitting the mid-life milestone this year. On September 6, 2008, I turn 50. So, here's my "Dream Dream Dream" come true.........On Saturday evening, September 6, 2008, Bill Henderson rolls into my old hometown with the band, sets up at the Corral Bar ( the largest live music venue in town), and Chilliwack plays the entire album, songs in order, beginning to end. For an encore, they could do a song or two from "Lights From the Valley."
To this day, I believe Dreams Dreams Dreams is one of the top ten best albums of all time. Unbelievable instrumentation, vocals, great lyrics, and such a clean mix and master. A true masterpiece!
Thank you for the opportunity to blather on, Mr Henderson. If you're not doing anything on September 6........
Jim

A cult following in Durand!! Who'd a thought? Thanks Jim. I'm glad you dug that album so much. Afraid we won't be rolling into town on the 6th. But, maybe you could make it up to Kenora or North Bay next time we're in one of those places.
Cheers,
Bill

Thanks for the reply, Mr Henderson. I did, indeed enter the kingdom of Geezerville back on September 6, and enjoyed a great party on our deck with many friends and family (by the way, my home is Eau Claire, WI - no longer living in the tiny Chilliwack-loving town of Durand). Even though my tongue-in-cheek request for an impromptu Chilliwack concert never materialized, we did put your tunes on at the deck party, and it was a graceful entrance into AARP territory for me!
As for a gig in Kenora; I will look for that in your schedule. It's been several years since I've been to Kenora, Ontario. In fact, my wife and I spent an evening there back in the early 80s, and I ended up purchasing a copy of Dreams Dreams Dreams from a wonderful gal operating a place called "Pat's Stationery." Though I haven't been that far north in many years, a Chilliwack concert in Kenora just might be the ticket for a return trip to beautiful Ontario!
Thanks again. You might tire of the constant compliments, but I gotta tell ya; your music has touched my heart and all the memories created with your gifted songs as the soundtrack are priceless beyond words. I look forward to catching you in concert someday. Take care.....
