Aloha Bill!
I have been checking in on this website on and off for a number of years - I think since you started the thing - just to see if there's any mention made of re-releases of stuff from the back catalog. I check the GEMM website, Amazon, Ebay, you name it, but there's still a big gap in the CD releases of your music and I think it's a real shame since it is all really great and memorable and deserves to be still available.
So far I have found both Collectors CDs, The Double LP and 'Mask' CDs, (BIG CRAZY GAP OF MISSING STUFF), Wanna Be A Star, Opus X, Look In Look Out, Greatest Hits (original release and remastered version), There And Back, Anthology, UHF1 and UHF2.
See that section? BIG CRAZY GAP OF MISSING STUFF! Things need to be done! Letters need to be written! Pants need to be zipped up! I notice a chunk of that big crazy gap includes Mushroom label stuff and I know a bit about the trials and tribulations regarding what happened there but it boggles my mind that given the time elapsed it should still be an issue. Isn't there a section of the copyright law in the country regarding moral copyright where the ownership reverts to the artist? If the label is defunct and not a going concern you should be perfectly in your right to be able to release those albums as CDs again. As for the Sire and A&M stuff, what do we need to do? Is it a matter of pestering the people at those companies with letters and phone calls until the things are put out in, at the very least, limited press runs again?
I think it was at the end of a concert in Calgary (Stampede time, 4 or 5 years ago) you said check out the website and look for a re-release of ...my bad memory here, it was either Breakdown In Paradise or Lights From The Valley, but it seemed not to have happened. I'm a patient guy but I figured you needed a gentle reminder that we're still waiting
Anyway, if you check in on the ol' message board here and see this message, some of us are still sitting out here in fandom, twiddling our thumbs waiting for these classic albums to be put on CD. It would be cool to hear from ya on what the deal is with these things and if there's anything that we can do to help expedite things in the re-release department (letter writing, loud complaining, smoke signals, etc). Thanks for all the groovy tunes, look forward to seeing you playing again and often(Stampede stage or Silver Dollar Casino again?).
Regards,
